CATI | Telephone interviews – are an individual survey method conducted by telephone using computer-assisted methodology. Data are collected from both individuals and legal entities. To conduct such surveys, a database of telephone numbers is required (for legal entities) or a list of randomly generated numbers (for individuals). Given the relatively high level of telephone coverage in the Republic of Moldova, this method is widely used and allows the collection of reliable statistical data.

Advantages of CATI:
– lower costs due to the elimination of transportation and other related expenses;
– fast implementation and the possibility to include a larger sample in a short time;
– 100% quality control of interviewers’ work;
– access to population segments unavailable for face-to-face interviews.

Disadvantages of CATI:
– limited interview duration – up to 20 minutes, 20-40 questions;
– no possibility to use visual or demonstrative materials.

XPLANE operates its own call-center, equipped with specialized telephone and computer equipment for 25 workstations. Surveys are conducted using the Evonix CATI / Webfieldwork system, fully compliant with international standards.
